Treatment #2

Today was my first treatment as an outpatient. This time I got all my chemo in one day for the first time. First I get bloodwork to make sure my numbers are at an acceptable level to proceed.

The handwritten numbers are the threshold I have to meet in order for chemo to occur.

So, once my bloodwork comes back and I’m cleared for chemo to begin, we start with premedications- Tylenol, 2 IV antinausea medications, IV steroids and IV benedryl. Then we get to the good stuff. The outpatient regimen is slightly different than the one I received as an inpatient. Because of that, the first outpatient infusion goes a little slower. Since it was my first time as an outpatient, I got to keep my emotional support human with me. Very handy as I had him to refill my water and fetch my snacks.

After a very long day of infusions, we made it out of there after 4:00. And despite 2 doses of steroids, I napped while I was there and again at home before going to bed early and sleeping all night!
