Interim PET scan Day!

After having to involve all my nurses, I did eventually get my PET scan approved and scheduled for Friday April 3rd. I have to eat a low carb, high protein diet the day before and fast for 6 hours prior to the test. So I scheduled for 9:30 and off I went in my B Team shirt, hat and bracelet stack. Armed with my AirPods and my book club book for the hour it takes to become radioactive (insert Imagine Dragons song here).

It took 1 nuclear medicine tech, 2 RNs and 4 tries to get an IV in my hand (worst place for an IV in my opinion) for the contrast injection. Finally it was time to lay flat and still for a little (mostly) quiet 20 minutes while I got my scan. By late afternoon the results were up….

Complete metabolic response! While the PET scan isn’t seeing any cancer cells, I still have to complete treatment- 2 more full chemos and 2 single drug infusions. Next full chemo is #5 on Monday, which is the beginning of the downhill slide!
